Guillaume
A sorcerer forsaken by his magic, researcher exiled from his domain, seeking for the true secret inside celestial minerals.
The sole researcher of Mystralite Arts and one of the last members of Great Library’s infamous splinter group, Guillaume dedicated the rest of his life within what’s left of Alexylva University, scouring for the source of energy that once powered the entire academic civilization.
Introduction
A Great Library affiliate through Pars Mythos initiative faction who conducts his own research in the ruins of Alexylva University. Gifted with keen sense and cool-headed demeanors, he’s a bright researcher as well as an astute combatant despite being blindfolded.
Hailed from a distant realm, Guillaume’s penchant for the coveted Mystral Art brought him to numerous discoveries and conflicts. Such art is both a blessing and curse for him, as he was forced to wander in The Rift for a long time until he settled in the then-abandoned Ermionepolis1 and made contact with Pars Mythos.
Before he became Pars Mythos member, Guillaume had conducted a couple of researches in Ermionepolis, focusing on the subject of Alexylvan technology–the technology that used Mystralite extensively, mostly found in automatons. Knowing that the resource he had is lacking, his goal shifted from deconstructing automatons of such an advanced civilization to finding Alexylva University, hoping that his research and understanding of Mystralite will advance even further.
Years passed and after an arduous labors, he finally found the University–only to be greeted by ruined buildings and numerous malfunctioned automatons roaming around the site. Instead of going back to square one, he set up an outpost for himself and started collecting heaps of leftovers the University had provided for him. All for completing his research and untap the hidden knowledge and wisdom of the coveted yet feared magic stone.
Background
Origin
Guillaume’s upbringing is mostly unknown, however his origin could be traced to a noble lineage in a distant world which may or may not be exist during this era. His aptitude towards magic was the main drive for him to pursue various arcane arts which led him to Mystralite (a mineral that generates pure ether in its inert state) and the Mystralite Arts introduced by a band of spellsword and academics from the “land of evernight.”
During his early adult days, he studied Mystralite and came into a conclusion that the mineral has untapped power beyond what the academia had discovered, but he needed a stronger catalyst to untap such potential, one of which is not present in his home realm. With the help of a certain stranger, he gained an access to The Rift and embarked on a journey to find the perfect catalyst for proving his Mystralite theory. In order to do so, however, he violated the academia’s creed which led to his denouncement from the academia and an exilement for tampering with the realm’s nature’s order.
Exiled but still hot in the trail for proving his theory, he went back to The Rift, wandered for a settlement he could call home while offering a service to those willing to share their wealth with him. Eventually, he ended up in Ermionepolis which at the time was an exchange hub of arcane kinds for sorcerers and wizards. There, he caught the winds about Alexylva, the realm of ancient academia long lost to history, and he started digging on the information about Alexylva right away.
Contact with Pars Mythos
During his days in Ermionepolis, he made contact with a stranger claimed to be from the Great Library.
Learned that the nexus of knowledge possesses an information about the lost academic realm, he accepted the stranger’s offer only to realize he partook in an initiation rite of becoming a member of Pars Mythos. At the time, he didn’t know what Pars Mythos is–at the time he learned who Pars Mythos is, he wouldn’t mind to become their member either. The benefits of being a member of infamous Great Library faction outweighted the liability and stigma the faction would make an impact to his reputation.
When Pars Mythos Revolt happened, he was already outside Great Libary’s vicininty, as he had found what he needed from the faction and set his journey to Alexylva.
Prior to Scarlet Record
Guillaume arrived in Alexylva (better known today as the University Ruins) five cycles before Pars Mythos Revolt unraveled. He set up his research post and started digging for artifacts and ether crystals (which turns out to be a more volatile version of Mystralite) suitable for his research, most of which meant he had to deal with automata that littered the ruins.
During his time in between research and exploration within the ruins’ complex, he found a stranded catfolk cornered by a group of automata. This led to a sudden companionship between him and the catfolk he saved for years to come.
Over years, he noticed the increase of automata activities within the ruins and the miasma of “foul ether”. Months after his first discovery of the foul ether’s presence, Guillaume made an attempt to make a connection between the two phenomena only to find out the rising threat around the ruins caused “Guardian Activation Protocol” to occur, unleashing a mechanical guardian out of its slumber–and with it, a pristine Mystralite and the perfect catalyst to draw the power from it. Along with his felyne companion, he set up a plan to track down and dispatch the mechanical guardian.
During his pursuit across the ruins, he stumbled upon a Scribe, a Guild member and a blue witch duked it out with the mechanical guardian, which he didn’t expect whatsoever. In exchange for their help in taking down the guardian, he promised to give them an access to the Serpent’s Tunnel that Guillaume possesses.
Characteristics
Years of research on an exotic and almost esoteric subject turned Guillaume into a reserved individual, and Pars Mythos’ influence shaped him into a scholar who would justify everything for the desired, often sought end, even if violence is warranted in order to achieve it.
Guillaume preferred solitude over companionship until the catfolk he helped became his companion. Knowing they will benefit each other, he slowly accepting a little of companionship. He would still prefer to be left alone in his research post, however.
He sees everything on its core value and sometimes speaks his mind, even if might be a little bit out of the pocket. Even so, he maintains his composure when he criticizes others and he gets criticized by others. He found thought-provoking academic debates enjoyable, especially after he went through his rebellious phase and when he found out he was only scratching the surface of the topic he got into.
Guillaume wears a blindfold all the time, claiming it aids his focus. He makes up his lack of direct vision with keen sense of detecting ether flow in the surroundings.
Capabilities
Guillaume’s unparalleled swordplay can dispatch the toughest of foes and his Mystralite Arts gives the edge he needs to deal with even trickier ones. His wits is as sharp as his blade and may challenge even the brightest of minds from Great Library. And yes, he can do it all while blindfolded.
Guillaume’s unique fighting style comes from the mix of his birthright and the Mystralite Arts. He claimed that he was trained by a renowned tutor back in his home realm back when he was 11 years old which influenced his armament of choice: a thrusting sword attuned with magic. His style consists of constant suppression (by combining his swordplay, conjured blades from Mystralite Arts, and his magical prowess) and retaliation (riposte and punishes).
Excelling at toe-to-toe combat, he is nimble as he is strong, but he lacks a mean to dish out stronger attacks directed at him. Even with such a setback, he still can hold his own weight in a fight.
Equipment
- Silver Estoc (Thrusting Sword)
- A razorsharp, narrow blade meant for thrusting attacks. Guillaume’s estoc is ornated with plants motif engravings and a studded gemstone on the pommel. It’s imbued with magic under Guillaume’s command, making it capable to travel beyond his range and fly straight to his target.
- Talisman of Yore (Talisman)
- A silver pendant suspended on a small chain. The talisman is used in a way not unlike a magic wand; it works as a Mystralite Arts catalyst and medium for Guillaume’s other spells.
- Mystralite Shards (Crystal)
- Condensed ether which glows in blue-ish hue in its inert state. When shattered, it emanates a whiff of ethereal energy that Guillaume can use to cast his spells. One of his signature spells, Mystral Shards, uses this material to create a series of ethereal blades under his command.
- Crimson Manifold (Blindfold)
- A simple red cloth fashioned as a bandanna or in Guillaume’s case, a blindfold.

Ermionepolis is a hub city located in the “north west” part of Numidia Segmentum. Latest record from AE890 cited a steady decline of the population due to the forthcoming change within The Rift. ↩
